Sanford Center for Aging’s New Director of Volunteer Programs
Scott Trevithick has been hired as the new Project Director for the Sanford Center for Aging, Volunteer Programs, at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Trevithick previously was the Executive Director of the Special Advocates for Elders (SAFE), a program that recruited and trained volunteers to be advocates for elders facing guardianship.
Trevithick’s experience spans more than 20 years. As Project Director, he will oversee the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Washoe County, and Senior Outreach Services (SOS). RSVP is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service that encourages people 55 years and older to share their skills, talents and experiences with community nonprofit and public agencies. The SOS program provides support to Washoe County’s most vulnerable elders through trained volunteers that help them to stay in their homes as long as possible.
"Scott's understanding of senior issues, coupled with his diverse experiences working with volunteers, governing boards and the Nevada Aging Services Network, will allow him to hit the ground running," said Denise Montcalm, director of the School of Social Work, UNR.
