Santa Makes a Visit

Children from Anderson Elementary School receive Christmas wishes from Santa and seniors at Five Star Premier Residence of Reno.

Around 90 kindergartners from Anderson Elementary School received a gift and a Teddy Bear from Santa for the holidays at Five Star Premier Residence of Reno (Classic Residence).

Happy ChildFor the past ten years the senior living community has hosted a Teddy Bear Holiday Party for the children, however this year there was an additional magical experience. The children were told to write a letter to Santa telling him what they wanted for Christmas. The schools teachers sent the requests to Premier Residence whose residents and staff raised over $3,000 for presents. The River Church also made donations. The children’s Christmas wishes were then purchased.

Almost 100 gifts were wrapped and ready for Santa to give each child; the gifts were exactly what each child had asked for on their Christmas list. Premier residents were also able to share bears and hugs with the youngsters.

In addition to the fun toys, Grassroots Books donated free books for the children to take home for the holiday.

About 110 seniors attended the Christmas Party at the Sparks Senior Center in December.

Ten RSVP Kickers perform at the Senior CenterIn addition to good friends and holiday treats, the RSVP Kickers were present to provide entertainment. The Kickers who started dancing as a team in 1995, say their motto is “Dance is Life!” The RSVP Kickers range in age from 66 and up.

The Sparks Senior Center recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Attended by a regular groups of seniors who help organize special events, exercise, and recreation activities, the facility is a bustling hub of active volunteers.
