Look Thru the Eyes of Jerry Sleight
The historic Lake Mansion will be hosting an art exhibit featuring 20 works of senior artist Jerry Sleight. “Look Thru the Eyes of Jerry Sleight,” will be on display September 15-26.
Sleight, a resident of Classic Residence by Hyatt, moved to Reno a year and a half ago. He is delighted to find a wealth of beautiful scenery surrounding Reno to further inspire his love of landscape painting. He is a studio painter and most of his paintings are based upon onsite sketches and photographs of the places he visits. He is not opposed, however to moving a tree, or eliminating it from an image all together, if it will make a better painting!
After World War II and college, Jerry moved to Sausalito, California and lived there for many years. Ten-years-ago, in his early 70’s, friends suggested he join a weekly watercolor class, taught by Jerry Stitt, AWS. An artist was born!
Jerry is a member of the California Watercolor Association, the Marin Watercolor Society and the Marin Society of Artists, where he is a Signature Member. His paintings have appeared in numerous group shows, organized by these associations, along with several one man shows in Marin County. He has painted in Europe, the Chesapeake area, Death Valley and the San Juan Islands with the majority of his work representing areas along the northern coast of California
Visitors can view the show and tour the mansion Monday – Friday from 11 – 3 p.m. A reception for the artist takes place on Saturday, September 20 during the 3rd Saturday, River Walk Merchants Wine Walk from 2 – 5 p.m.
The Wine Walk is $20 and includes a souvenir wine glass, map, identification wristband, tastes of California wines at each of the 20 plus participating merchants, snacks and a chance to win merchant prizes during the ending raffle. Information: 826-6100, www.vsanevada.org.

Sleight is also the recipient of the Classic Artists Series that acknowledges the artistic and creative skills of senior artists. He will receive his award August 28th, at the Arts & Craft Festival, at the retirement community in Reno.
